Plant Whisperers: Morgane Boëm

This month we met Morgane from @vertbobo. She is from France, and she has more than 80 plants in her home, plus a beautiful red and white cat.

Hello Morgane!

When and how did your love story with plants begin?

I have always been attracted by plants!

My plant story began when I was a child.

I loved walking in my grandparent’s garden while asking them each plant’s names.

And once I moved to my first flat 2 years ago, I have started to collect my own plants.

What's the best thing about living with houseplants?

Living with indoor plants is lovely.

I love having green everywhere and being surrounded by living things.

I also love taking care of my plants, watch them, touch them. Making a moment during my day just for my plants is everything to me!

What's your experience with Pilea Peperomioides?

Pilea Peperomioides has been my favorite since forever!

I have got some cuttings at first, but I didn’t take care of them correctly. Then I bought a Pilea plant on a website, and it’s been love at first sight!

Now, after 2 years, it's still with me. It has never stopped making babies! I love to take care of it.

Through all this time, I have learned that it's important to always keep an eye on the leaves (their shape, color, and thickness) because they are an indicator of the health of the plant.

Do you ever talk to your plants or listen to music for them?

I always stop by and say hello to all my plants, especially when they are not doing well. I also love to talk to them during the winter, when they all need some extra care!

You have a lovely cat! How's living with a pet and plants in the same place?

Yes, Banana!

He's an extremely curious cat.

I have a little ritual every time I bring a new plant at home. I place it on the table and let him come to inspect it and smell it.

In the meantime, I keep myself close enough to watch him.

If I see he is getting too close to the plant and trying to bite it, I make some noise, so that he understands that plant is not his dinner!

Little tip: buy one or two plants just for your cat, so he can play with them as much as he wants. In this way, the rest of your plant gang will be safe!

You have more than 80 plants.

How can you take care of all of them?

Having a lot of plants means taking the time to get to know each one of them.

I try to find the perfect place for their needs and watch closely if they need to be moved.

I keep an eye on them every day to make sure they grow healthy!

What plant is on your wish list right now?

Difficult choice, I have some many!

I am looking for some plants that are really hard to find here in France. I would love to have an Anthurium Clarinervium, and any type of Caladium. Also, a Pink Princess Philodendron, and an Alocasia Reginula. I know... So many!

Thank you for sharing your story, Morgane!
